Shape Book

O.K. so I really have no excuses for my lack of posting and creating other than life has just taken me over.  Between my own three kids and keeping up with lesson planning, preparing, etc.  I have zero time to do anything extra.  I hope that it will soon slow down, but with the holidays quickly approaching, I don't see that happening!!!  If you have any time saver tricks, please be more than happy to share!!!

Well we are starting our chapter on shapes tomorrow, so I created this little booklet to go with it.  The best part is that it is FREE!!!  Here are some of the pages that are included!!

You can pick and choose which shapes you want to include in your student's booklets and with two books per page, you can print and save paper all at the same time.

Please leave me some feedback love if you download it!!

New Product {Comparing Numbers}

Wow, two posts in one day!  These snow days have done wonders on getting things done on my to do list.  I just finished my latest activity packet and you are going to love it!  It is common core based and focuses on comparing numbers using symbols.  It's called "Fill Your Cup!"

Here's how it works.  Students can play with a partner or small group.  Each kiddo needs a cup work mat.  Players will draw a number card and compare their number to the others.  Whoever has the greatest or least number {depending on the version}in the group gets to place that card on their work mat, thus filling their cup.  Play continues until all the cards have been used.  Whoever "filled their cup" with the most number of cards is the winner.

I included number cards 1-120, but you do not have to have students play with all cards.  Depending on their level choose what cards to work on.  Maybe if you teach kindergarten, only have students use number cards 1-20!  If students are more advanced, they can play with numbers 1-50.  The possibilities are endless, just choose what works best for your kiddos.  If you need to check for student understanding, I included a few different versions of recording sheets.  I included one of these as a FREEBIE down below.

O.K. enough talking, here are a few snippets of what is included.  I made two versions, one version uses more colored ink, while the other is more ink friendly.  Click on any of the pictures to take you to my TpT store and check it out.

Here's your freebie! Just click on either picture to download!

And if your still with me, I would love to give this packet away to somebody!  All you have to do is leave me a comment about ANYTHING and FOLLOW MY BLOG! I will pick a winner Sunday morning after I've had my coffee!  If you blog about this, you can enter a second time to increase your chance of winning!!

Good Luck and thanks for following!

Each activity comes in black and white also for those that are saving on ink, I know how precious that is. It also comes with a recording page to check for student's understanding.  You can click on any of the pictures above to take you to my TpT store.

If you are still reading, I have a FREEBIE from this packet to share with you.  Click the picture to download!

Some of my blogging friends and I will be hosting a giveaway the beginning of March.  If you would like to be in on this, leave me a message below with your email address and we will contact you.  It should be a great one, so let me know.

And, for those still reading my ramblings, I would like to do a Flash FREEBIE of this new product.  The first two people to leave me a comment will get my latest packet for free.  Don't forget to leave your email address so I can send it to you if you win.

Common Core: How many ways can you make 10?

We  have been working on addition to sums of ten in first grade.  Today we had to find all the ways to make ten.  I started by having the kids use a ziploc bag.  I divided the bag in half using some fun duct tape.

In each bag I placed 10 counters.  You can really do this with any sum, but since our lesson was making sums of 10 that's what I used.  The students would start by having 0 on the left side and 10 on the right.  So 0 + 10=10.  Next I had them move one counter to the other side, they would write the addition sentence 1 + 9=10, then they moved another counter 2+8=10, and so on.  It was fun to see them realize the pattern you get when you move them.  Having this hands on visual helped my kiddos a lot.

I created this little paper to use as a pre-teaching lesson before having them do the activity page out of our math series.  By preteaching the lesson with this paper helped them to do the activity page more independently.  I have included this activity page as a FREEBIE to use in your classroom.
Just click the image below.  The students draw the counters in the "ziploc" bag and then record the addition sentence.  Enjoy!!

Boot Camp Math!!

How many of you use AIMS Web Testing?  We have started using it this year and I was needing some easy assessments/interventions to use with my first graders.  This packet is easy to use and will help provide interventions to increase student's performance on AIMS web assessments as well as overall math fluency related to the common core.

I would be curious to see, those of you that use it, what your thoughts or ideas are on AIMS Web.

Check out my "Boot Camp Math" intervention packet here!
